Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence on Saturday, marking her first formal interaction with him since assuming office. During the meeting, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the capital’s leader and assured her commitment to making Delhi a "Viksit" city under PM Modi’s vision.
Before heading to the PM’s residence, Gupta addressed a gathering from the balcony of her Shalimar Bagh home, using a public address system to thank her supporters. She reiterated her administration’s focus on infrastructure, cleanliness, and road repairs while ensuring the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which her Cabinet had approved on its first day in office.
Meanwhile, key Delhi ministers hit the ground, inspecting various pending infrastructure projects and reviewing the state of city roads. PWD Minister Parvesh Verma conducted a site visit at the Barapullah Phase-3 project and assured that stalled payments and environmental clearances would be expedited to accelerate construction. He also issued strict directives to remove encroachments and emphasized a new policy requiring road contractors to guarantee a 10-year lifespan for road repairs.
In another inspection at Khajuri Khas crossing, Law and Labour Minister Kapil Mishra took a dig at the previous AAP-led government, blaming it for the poor condition of Delhi’s roads. He stated that broken roads, potholes, and waterlogging would no longer be tolerated under the new administration. Mishra also highlighted the need for round-the-clock work culture among Cabinet ministers and officials to ensure swift repairs.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta later held a meeting with Public Works Department (PWD) officials to discuss dug-up roads, damaged highways, and ongoing traffic congestion in the city. She directed officials to ensure speedy completion of pending projects and stressed the importance of long-term maintenance.
With the new government focusing on Delhi’s infrastructure, the public awaits tangible improvements in the city’s roads and urban planning. The administration has promised swift action, ensuring that Delhiites experience a visible transformation in the coming months.
